Music is ultimately created to be shared, and it is my privilege to help students attain the skills to be life-long performers, listeners and music lovers.

Live Life in Music

My name is Andy (Andrea) Costello. I teach students ages three through adult. I use a combination of methods, including the Suzuki method, and starting very early I customize method and repertoire to the student. Parent participation in lessons for beginners is strongly encouraged, and many parents are inspired to take up the violin the first year to help the child with practice at home.

Background and Teaching Philosophy

I believe that music instruction should be enjoyable, be built on a solid technical foundation, inspire creativity, and match each individual's goals. I encourage students to find how music moves them from within so that they can become lifelong players. Through joyful lesson time, consistent practice and frequent opportunities to play with others for the social aspect of sharing music, I work with every student to find that special place for music in their life.

These philosophies have been developed over my 28 yrs of teaching violin/viola lessons in Medfield, to students ages 3 to adult.

I have a Professional Studies Certificate for violin performance from New England Conservatory where I studied violin with Sophie Vilker and violin pedegogy with Magdelena Richter. Other past teachers include John Emery, and Barbara Oren. I am a past member of the New England Philharmonic and a current member of the Rivers Symphony Orchestra.
